MAKE BELIEVE w/ PIVOTAL & FIREBELLY DESIGN

I performed assistance in the planning, promotion, and execution of Make Believe. My concept for the program was chosen in our brainstorming meeting.

Working for Shannon at Pivotal and having the opportunity to collaborate with Firebelly, instilled a great love and appreciation for businesses that adhere to the triple bottom line. These woman-run businesses have inspired me to strive to bring a broader definition of "bottom line" into public consciousness with the projects that I develop and work on.

Firebelly Design and Pivotal Production facilitated an art program, offering Chicago’s largest art prize for the Wicker Park Bucktown Neighborhood Association.

The Wicker Park Bucktown SSA exists to sustain and promote the prosperity and unique qualities of the Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood and commercial district through strategic investments aimed at enhancing the public spaces of WPB.

Phase I: Pivotal built an inventory of all of the vacant storefronts + public areas in Wicker Park/Bucktown, a vibrant Chicago neighborhood known for its art + music scene.

Phase II: Pivotal & Firebelly conceptualized + produced an art competition that transformed these vacant storefronts into interactive installations and promoted the areas richly diverse character, artists + business communities. After a nationwide call for proposals, 10 artists were selected by jury and given $1000 to create long-term installations in assigned spaces. A launch event, guided walking tours, press tours and a closing awards ceremony kept all eyes on the project. A massive social media campaign and public online voting ensured heightened engagement + landed the project national press.

Amazing team. Awesome artists.
